Zorana holds a PhD in Population Genetics and has conducted research in evolutionary biology, mito-nuclear interactions, mitochondrial biology, immuno-psychiatry, and data science. She began her academic career in Belgrade and later joined Uppsala University as a Marie Skłodowska-Curie Fellow within Horizon 2020. She has led global teams in the life sciences sector and founded Science Market Uppsala AB, where she also served as acting CEO.

Her work bridges natural and social sciences, connecting research with real-world impact. Her kitchen evolved into a laboratory where she created the Scientific Cookbook, a playful and award-winning educational tool for family learning. This work was recognized with the BELMA2025 prize for Best Educational Learning Material Award. Her mission is grounded in inclusion, empathy, and curiosity, guiding her work with underrepresented groups and young scientists.
